ADSL Internet Providers - UK
What is ADSL?
ADSL (i.e. Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a type of broadband
service offered from Internet Service Providers (ISP). ADSL is the most common
type of broadband as it uses a standard analogue phone line and converts it to a
digital line (ADSL line). Your telephone can now be used for voice and data
transmissions. Simply stated, you can to make regular phone calls (voice) and
simultaneously transmit data at high speeds (data).
ADSL2+ (new)-
This new technology, ADSL2+, is now being used by a few UK ADSL providers. This
type of ADSL has only been available since it was approved for use in September
2005. ADSL2+ means you can now get even higher speeds than ever before. Some
providers like UK Online now offer 22Mbps ADSL
Benefits of ADSL Broadband
As well as being a faster, more reliable Internet service, ADSL is
relatively secure than lets say cable broadband, and the big advantage to ADSL
is that you do not need to have any extra cables or phone lines added to your
flat or office.
NOTE: Some of the ADSL providers listed below "may" require a BT phone line ...
